The Past, Present & Future

Hello Absolutists. I got three words for you:

Past

Present

Future

The three words in front of you, in a nutshell, describe your entire life. The start, middle and end of a life; a story. People often take their lives for granted. They spend time thinking about one or the other when it should all be taken into account…

Past

Everyone tells you to move on from the past when a silly little conflict occurs or when you have a bad memory. “Just let go of the past”. Often times, people are right. Holding on to the past can be quite devastating depending on how strong of a hold you have on it. Still, remembering who you were is important as well. I can always tell as you get older, people don’t like to think about their past. Who would? You’ve grown up. The insecurities you had then have most likely disappeared. The embarrassing moments of puberty or when you totally struck out with your crush in the 7th grade.

The past, in my opinion, is the most important one. The start. You cannot have one without the others sure, but the start is where you look when you are finally finished. How you started and finished is a beautiful thing to see. How you started from a small, frail child into a vibrant, strong willed adult. The past is dangerous, yet incredible.

Present

Runner up to what is on every persons mind. Nothing like present day to make you feel right at home. I feel present time is very much taken advantage of. Sure, live in this moment, but if you make any sort of mistakes you tell yourself, “I got time. I’ll fix it later.” Present time is just the worldwide excuse for procrastination. Everyone is always too busy to focus and make every little thing count. Most of you don’t realize how much it’ll bite you in the ass sooner or later. It’s saddening. The present is meant to be cherished and be held sacred.

Future

The future. It’s what you are born to be prepared for. The future starts off as bright and bubbly as a little one. As you get older into your teenaged years, it starts to shift. You start to hear from the same adults who told you that you could be anything you wanted to be when you grow up, that the world is unforgiving and that horrors await you. All of a sudden, shooting yourself into space and exploring the universe is no longer realistic and you need to learn how to navigate this changing society. All your dreams and hopes are not obtainable without sacrificing everything to the point where you might as well not even try.

What do you dwell on? Present, past or future?

No more foolish make-believe day dreams, no more relaxation. You are taught, now fast paced, the dangers of everything you were looking forward to. The future is no longer carefree as you once knew it. It’s taught it’s crucial that what you do now is important to have a good future. People spend so much time referencing this timeline known as “the future” that they often forget to even live in their current present time. The time we have on Earth is precious and you never know when it can be taken away. The dreams shouldn’t have to go away, the stress shouldn’t be as established. We also should not dwell so much on a time period that has not even occurred because at the end what we all prepared for may be for nothing because the future is always changing.

The moral of all of this, is how we as people can’t even have the knowledge of mastering the ability to just live life. I leave a little parting gift to those who still struggle with what I am saying:

The past is not meant to be dwelled on but at the same time not meant to be forgotten

The present is not meant to be taken advantage of but it’s also a time to truly feel grateful in

The future is not meant to be stressful but it’s also not meant to be underestimated

Good day to you all
